₿Sat Market

Everyday prices in sats

What groceries, fuel, cars and subscriptions cost in the U.S., measured in bitcoin. Green changes mean the item got cheaper in sats.

How the numbers are made

  • Sats = USD price ÷ the average of BTC's daily closes (UTC) in the same month × 100,000,000. Consumer prices are monthly averages, so we compare them with a monthly average BTC price rather than one day's close.
  • Prices (eggs, milk, gasoline...) are U.S. city averages from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, published about two weeks after the month ends. October 2025 is missing: BLS collected no data during the government shutdown.
  • CPI-adjusted items have no average dollar price, only a price index. We show what a fixed dollar amount in January 2021 costs since then, moved with that index. The new car starts from Kelley Blue Book's January 2021 average transaction price.
  • Live cattle is USDA's weekly 5-area price for fed steers (live weight), averaged per month.
  • Subscriptions are U.S. list prices for new subscribers, researched by hand. Every price change links to its source on the item's page.
